I'm Luke McMullin.
I’m an interactive designer who specializes in UX and UI design in addition to graphic and motion design. Currently, I work for the North Country Chamber of Commerce while I completed my Master of Science in Interactive Media at Quinnipiac University. I also do graphic and web design freelance work, solving design and organization problems for clients. In fact, I won a bid to design this year’s GoNorth Guide, which will be published and distributed all over Northern New England. As a result of my work, my clients experience more compelling design, smoother site navigation, and less frustration. On a personal note, I recently invested in a stand-up desk to improve my physical and mental health while working on projects, and during my off time I’ve been trying to step away from the computer and do something active.
My Beginning
As a child, I was always drawn to media with great visuals, especially those from my favorite TV shows on Nickelodeon, PBS, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel. I was fascinated by how design had such an impact on setting the mood for whatever I was watching, reading, or observing in real places like malls and schools.
I would carry this passion and curiosity with me to high school, university and beyond, where I would get involved in creative arts and graduate with High Honors and a Bachelor of Science in Digital and Interactive Media Arts.
I landed myself a few internships and even got a full-time job at a sign shop out of college—until the coronavirus pandemic happened. However, I did not let my being laid off stop me from continuing to learn and apply my skills where I could. I accepted small freelance gigs where I could, went back to school to gain more skills, and even landed myself a position at a chamber of commerce along the way.
Now and Forward
Today, I am working for the North Country Chamber of Commerce while having just recently graduated with a Master of Science in Interactive Media. Here, I learned the Design Thinking process skills that go into UX Design, greatly improved my Graphic Design skills, and even became skilled in Motion Graphics. Now, I am ready to bring my skills to the next level for any organization or client in need. I always seek to learn and improve with everything that I do, especially with researching new design methods and trends.
My Interests
In my spare time, I enjoy photography, playing PC games, playing and listening to music of all genres, and exploring new places.
